Bringing Orthopedic Assessment Findings to Management Planning: Beverly Cusick
This program provides participants with an opportunity to learn to execute a minimum of 10 lower limb musculoskeletal and pelvic postural assessment procedures under Instructor’s supervision. These participants will then receive a case study that includes videotapes of the child and a copy of his or her reported assessment findings. Working in groups and using guiding worksheets, they will bring the assessment findings to a prioritized management plan, and propose targeted treatment strategies.
If a congenial, child volunteer with diplegic CP is available, they will complete the program by participating in a live case presentation in which they will be asked at random to execute an assessment procedure, to explain its significance, and to participate in planning targeted interventions for this child. If the child volunteer is not present, the participants will use the available lab time to practice assessment procedures that they want to gain confidence in executing, and to discuss questions with the Instructor.
Instructor will provide assessment tools for use by each group during the lab. All participants and auditors will receive a detailed manual.
Registration is limited to 18 participants who have taken the Sparking Change pre-requisite course.
